Sawbill to Phoebe and back with a bad back and broken tongue
by bapabear

Trip Type: Paddling Canoe
Entry Date: 06/08/2014
Entry & Exit Point: Sawbill Lake (EP 38)
Number of Days: 7
Group Size: 6
Trip Introduction:
I really needed a "get away" trip after a rough winter. Four deaths in the family between November and March was a little much. When my friends in IL, John, his son Josh, and two grandsons asked me to help fill a canoe with my son's father-in-law again I jumped at the chance. As usual, I was the only "fisherman" in the group but was told one of the grandsons from IL "really wanted" to fish a lot this trip so my hopes were high. The plan was established - go in at EP 38 after spending the night camping at Sawbill Campground. We would travel up on a Saturday, go in on Sunday and leave on Friday.
Day 1 of 7
Saturday, June 7, 2014

Saturday. We planned to leave at 5 am for the eight hour trip. We hit the road more like 5:30 but the roads were good and we made good time. I've been on the Sawbill Outfitters website many times and now got to see it in person. I will report that the young folks working there were very pleasant, helped us with all our questions, and even took the camera to help take a group picture. We took campsite #41 and settled in for the night. The two high school boys and I tried our hand at fishing from the shore but had no luck. With the excitement of leaving early in the morning we didn't much care. All went to bed early.
